Population
Sedentary adults with obesity
Duration
12 weeks
Comparator
Control group
Outcomes
Body composition, Epicardial adipose tissue, Abdominal visceral fat area, Abdominal subcutaneous fat area, Plasma metabolomics

Intervention

Sprint exercise snacks performed by stair-climbing, 4 days per week; other protocol details were not stated.

Main findings

Compared with the control group, the exercise-snack intervention produced greater improvements in epicardial adipose tissue, abdominal visceral fat area, and abdominal subcutaneous fat area. Isoleucine, glycine, and serine were among the key metabolites that differed between groups. Changes in body composition were associated with altered metabolism of these amino acids.
